Unity Sand Ceremony
Help with ideas for Unity Sand Ceremony in Wedding…?

Our wedding is coming up in May, we know that we are doing unity sand ceremony and as I was browsing I came across the kit that has a 3rd cylinder in it for(what it suggested) a child. We have a 3 1/2 yr old and 11month old that we would like to include in this part. In talking with my fiance` and my mother, we are not sure as to how they should start it off. Like with the unity candle mother of bride lights her candle and mother of groom lights his candle. We then take those and light the big one in the center. How would our mothers go about doing their part to “prepare” for us to pour our cylinders together for the sand ceremony? And should our daughter pour hers before, after, or during us pouring ours in? Can anyone help me out with this?

Well, the sand should be set up already during the ceremony, so the mothers would have no job to do before hand, like lighting the candles, but they could be a part by each having one child and helping that child pour sand in the container. You all do it at the same time, including the children, and you can find container sets that have four smaller containers, one for each of you, including the children, and get four different colors of sand.

There are also really sweet readings the pastor can do before you pour, so it does not need to be done during the vows, or anything else like another post said.
